Diners
For this project, I wanted to convey the difference in diners. Diners are fast-paced environments. When you go to a diner at different times of the day it can change the activity and people you see. In this series of photos, I as the photographer wanted to show the differences and unique characteristics of local diners. I simply just sat down at each diner and got comfortable with the environment. I observed the people found a moment and started shooting. When looking for photo opportunities I was focused on the people. Moments of people talking or moments when a waitress might ask a person if they need more coffee. It was a little nerving at first because I did not want the people to pay attention to me, I wanted to present each diner in an authentic and natural way. In this set of photos, I feel like you can see a good range of both people and the interior of the diners. I focused on capturing both because that is what brings the diners alive. In my collection of photos, it was hard to pick through the different diners. But I pick the photos that I thought would go well together and the ones I thought looked good. I chose diners because each one has their own unique welcoming atmosphere. I like hearing the locals talk. When you walk into each diner you can tell which ones come in often. I like the feeling of being at home and knowing the people around me. I find that the relationship you see with locals and workers at the diners are very interesting. It brings up the thought of how that relationship formed and how long the customer has been coming to that diner.
